SUPREME COURT TAKES STRONG STAND ON FALSE FIRS

INTRODUCTION

 

On the 28 May 2025, the Supreme Court of India ordered that no more FIRs should be filed against a couple from the Uttar Pradesh. The couple said they were being harassed with many false cases. The Court took this step to give them protection and asked the State to give a full report.

 

BACKGROUND

 

The couple had many FIRs filed against them in different police stations. They told the Court that these cases are fake and are being used just to trouble them. They said they are not getting help from the police and instead getting more stressed.

 

They requested the Supreme Court to stop the new FIRs and to look into how they are being targeted unfairly.

 

KEY POINTS

 

The Court said no fresh FIRs should be filed against the couple for now.

The judges said a person should not suffer again and again for false complaints.

The Court asked the UP Government to give full details of the FIRs already filed.

The Court also warned that the legal system should not be misused like this.

 

RECENT UPDATE

 

After the Court’s order, legal experts said this is a good step. They told police cases should not be used for personal revenge. The next hearing will take place soon, and the State has to explain how they will handle this issue.

The Supreme Court’s order gave some relief to the couple and also showed that the Court is serious about misuse of law. Justice means protecting people from wrong use of law too. Now everyone is waiting for the next step in the case.
