On November 6, the Madras High Court allowed the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh to hold a parade at 44 of the 50 venues they had asked. Previously, the court had announced that it would give orders after reviewing the intelligence reports that were provided to the court in a sealed cover after the State reported that it had rejected authorization for the procession for most places in light of the Intelligence reports.

Case- R Karthikeyan v. K Phanindra Reddy IAS

FACTS OF THE CASE-

Just today, after reviewing the confidential report, Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan ruled that the procession might take place in 44 different locations. The court denied permission to process in six different places due to the discovery of “certain items.” These locations were Nagercoil, Coimbatore city, Pollachi, Tirupur, Palladam, and Arumani.

JUDGEMENT AND ORDER-

The processionists were also ordered by the court to promise to pay for any damage they caused to public or private property and to avoid offending people of different faiths, languages, cultures, and so on. The State government had previously denied authorization, stating the recent ban on the PFI organization as the reason. On Wednesday, the State argued that granting permission was impossible because of the recent bombings in Coimbatore and the lack of available police officers caused by the persistent downpour.
